Our Beginnings in Orangevale CA
It all started with a promise!
In my previous life, I raised alpaca and learned about fiber arts. I had a small fiber herd of 15 on an acre of land in Washington state. I was not able to continue the alpaca part of that dream but continued in fiber arts. A decade after I remarried, I came home to my hubby, Dax, wrapping my red Honda Fit in a herd of white alpaca. I casually asked, “What are doing, love?” He replied, “I’m not able to give you alpaca now, but I promise some day I will.” And in 2020 he was true to his word when we purchase our home in Orangevale, CA and brought home our two alpaca, Pele and Maki.
We’ve built our micro fiber farm a little bit at a time and began offer educational tours in 2022 to our local communities. Since then close to 200 families and a few field trips have toured our little farm learning about our animals, gardening, composting, fiber arts and more. We form a non-profit at the end of 2023, ETR Farm Co. with all funds donated for tours or payment for classes going right back into feeding our animals and purchasing items to help in our education endeavors. At the end of 2025 I became an Enrichment Vendor with Visions In Education offering classes in Fiber Arts and Agricultural Science as well as teaching private lessons in fiber arts. I also have been hosting a Yarn Salon on the third Saturday of each month for those who use yarn in any way for the last four years.
